Short bio:
I am a Lecturer in Structural Engineering at Loughborough University and a member of the Structures and Materials research group. I have received my MSc degree in 2010 at the Nova University of Lisbon (Portugal). In 2014 started my PhD at the University of Warwick (UK) which was concluded in 2018. In 2019 I have been appointed as a Lecturer in Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of the West of England, Bristol, and in 2022 I have joined Loughborough University. I have authored several scientific publications, related with structural dynamics, structural health monitoring and probabilistic methods for data interpretation, including a “best paper” award by the International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure. Regarding teaching duties, I have worked as a teaching fellow at the Nova University of Lisbon and the University of Warwick, lecturing modules of solid dynamics, continuum mechanics, structural analysis and concrete structures. I also teach seismic performance-based design, nonlinear structural analysis and computational civil engineering modules.
Research Interests:
- Design of experiments, optimal sensor configuration
- Full-scale finite element modelling, model updating, damage detection
- Soil/structure interaction, operational modal analysis
- Structural identification and random vibrations
